Power rates up P1.14 per kwh

The Central Negros Electric Cooperative will impose an increase of P1.1460 per kilowatt hour on its consumers after the Energy Regulatory Commission has authorized the National Power Corp. to implement provisional increase in its basic rates, CENECO president Vicente Sabornay said yesterday.

He said the increase will take effect February 26-March 25 and will be reflected in the electric bill of the consumers in April. 

Sabornay said for example that if the residential rate is P5.1 KWH per month and additional increase of P1.1460 KHW will mean a total of P6.1 KWH per month.

The Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board yesterday issued an en banc resolution reducing the jeepney fare in Western Visayas by 50 centavos, its regional director, Porfirio Clavel, said yesterday.

The order is effective immediately but drivers need to post new fare guides in their vehicles, which they can acquire for free from LTFRB offices in their areas, he said.

Clavel said he is giving the drivers until the end of the week to post their guides or they will be fined for failing to comply.

Sugar Regulatory Administrator Rafael Coscolluela yesterday issued Sugar Order No. 1-D ordering the immediate shipping out of 150,000 metric tons of Philippine export reserve sugar to the world market and or to be used by export food processors.

Coscolluela said he  issued the order to reduce the country’s stock balance at the end of the crop year to help ensure more favorable domestic millgate prices for producers.

Millgate prices of “B” or  domestic sugar dipped below P1,000 per LKg in some areas last week.
