IN TAMBOBO BAY
Yachts, vessels not
paying docking fees

BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The barangay captain of Bonbonon, Siaton town, Negros Oriental, where Tambobo Bay is located, has admitted that they are incapable of monitoring the entry and exit of foreigners who use the bay to anchor their yachts.

Worse, these foreign yachts stay in the bay for years without paying docking fees to the municipal government, and denying the barangay of what is due it.

Bonbonon Barangay Captain Rosita Palarpalar told a public hearing yesterday that these foreign yachts are openly violating a barangay ordinance by refusing to pay the required amount of P50 per day when docking at the bay, especially while conducting repairs on their yachts..

The Palinpinon Geothermal Power Plant in Valencia, Negros Oriental, opened for sale its 192.5-megawatt facility with the publication of the Invitation to Bid for generating asset by the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation, recently.

Also included in the auction is the 112.5-megawatt Tongonan geothermal power plant in Leyte.

The Palinpinon plant consists of two power stations – Palinpinon I and II – which are approximately five kilometers apart. Palinpinon I, which was commissioned in 1983, comprises three 37.5-MW steam turbines for a total rated capacity of 112.5 MW.

Chiz reminds cops:
Don’t tarnish badge

Sen. Chiz Escudero reminded policemen yesterday that their badge signifies more than just their profession and rank, a press release from his office said.

A policeman’s badge is worn not to intimidate people but to command respect from them, he stressed during a speech marking the flag-raising and PNP Badge of Honor ceremonies of the Makati Central police station.

He said respect will come naturally to the profession of policemen if they are able to do their job fearlessly and properly, which will only make the sheen of their badges stand out more easily, the press release said.
