Police seeking witness in
slay of farmer, minors

Police investigators are still working to find a strong lead on the suspects in the “massacre” of a farmer and two minors last week in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

Supt. Calixto Mabugat, Kabankalan police chief, yesterday said they already have the names of two possible suspects, but they only need corroboration from a witness.

Elmer Lamera, 25, his half-brother, Crispino Florendo Jr., 15, and half-sister, Christine Fllorendo, 10, were found dead at their residence in Sitio Amian, Brgy. Tampalon, in Kabankalan. Their bodies bore multiple hack and stab wounds, police said.

Mabugat said they are now trying to convince a witness to help them solve the gruesome incident.

Kabankalan police investigators are looking into old grudges as the possible motive behind the massacre.*GPB

Raps filed vs.
2 ‘Salisi’ suspects

Two “salisi” thieves who were caught on a video camera while looting a convenience store early this month, have finally been charged before the court Monday, Bacolod City Police Office acting director, Supt. Leo Irwin Agpangan, said yesterday.

The suspects, whose names are being withheld by the police, are believed responsible for the theft of about P78,920 worth of cellular phone cards and cash from two convenience stores at Lacson Street in Bacolod on May 2 and 3.

Aside from the two suspects, several other John Does were also charged in court, he said.

Agpangan said the suspects were identified through the police intelligence networks.

Meanwhile, attempted homicide charges have been filed against Joebert Lisaca, of legal age, of Purok Paglaum, Brgy. 17 for attempting to shoot with a .22 caliber revolver the barangay tanods who apprehended him on May 15.

Police Station 2 investigators are now trying to establish his link to “bukas kotse” activities in Bacolod because a screw driver and an improvised piece of flat steel were recovered from him, Agpangan also said.*APN
