SHAKEY’S V-LEAGUE
USLS’ Lady Stingers
face SSC in first match
BY NIDA BUENAFE

The task of hoisting the Visayas’ banner in the 6th Shakey’s V-League tournament in Manila is now in the hands of University of St. La Salle Lady Stingers who will face SSC tomorrow in their first match at The Arena in San Juan.

This was after they witnessed how the San Sebastian College demolished San Jose Recoletos of Cebu in three sets yesterday.

The La Sallians are scheduled to play against SSC at 4 p.m. tomorrow, following the 2 p.m. game between Far Eastern University and USJ-R. After the USLS vs. SSC match-up, it will be Adamson University’s turn to test the strength of the University of Santo Tomas Lady Tigers.

JSY registers fourth victory
in Fil-Sino AACI tournament

Slipping past Chemisolutions, 83-78, JSY Transport improved its record to 4-1 to share the second spot in team standings with Organic Solutions as rivalries heat up in the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. Inter-Color Basketball Tournament at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang gym.

Taking the lead in the first quarter at 25-18 behind Bol Manaloto’s nine points and Ali Donesa’s eight markers, Chemisolutions failed to sustain the momentum in the second quarter as JSY guys made their presence felt inside the paint.

Cabecs rout BadBoys

BY NIDA BUENAFE

Sweet shooting swingman Rico Cabatu led all scorers with 18 points, including accurate snipes from long distance, as BBC defeated ProBac Boston Finance, 89-82, while Cabecs trounced Lopue’s BadBoys, 82-64, in the May 15 games of the 9th ProBac Invitational Basketball Tournament at West Negros University’s LN Agustin Memorial Sports Center in Bacolod City.

Boston got off to a good start, posting a one-point lead at the end of the first quarter at 22-21, but BBC stepped on the gas all the way to the finish line en route to a seven-point win.

Manning the paint for BBC, Jack Tumayan scored 17 markers while big man Sukrard Sekhon added 12 points to hold off any rally from Boston Finance’s side.
