The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod passed an appropriation ordinance for P14.142 million yesterday for the advance extra cash gift of regular and casual plantilla employees of the city government.

The ordinance was requested by Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia to alleviate the plight of the city employees vis-à-vis the school enrollment period.

Attached to Leonardia’s request dated May 25 were certifications issued by City Treasurers Annabelle Badajos and City Budget Officer Luzviminda Treyes that there are available funds.

Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson said the budget will be taken from the personnel benefit fund.

He said about 2,357 regular and casual plantilla employees will receive P6,000 each.

Earlier, Leonardia had said that the extra cash gift is in line with his administration’s commitment to the employees to help them cope with school opening expenses.

He said the amount, which is part of the extra cash gift set to be released in December, is over and above the regular government-mandated bonuses or regular benefits.*CGS
