Burglars Arrested

Three suspected car burglars were arrested by Station 2 policemen in a follow-up operation in Bacolod City at about 2 p.m. yesterday.

Insp. Jeffrey Attunaga said those arrested were Jojo Arnaiz, 20, alias Toto Daku, Melancio Arnon, 37, and a 16-year-old, whose name is being withheld by the DAILY STAR. All are residents of Purok Lubi, Brgy. 3, Bacolod.

Earlier yesterday, witnesses claimed that the suspects opened the vehicle of sales agent Gina Tobungbanua that was parked in Purok Cagaycay, Brgy. 2, Bacolod.

Tobongbanua, 33, of Purok Himaya, Brgy. Mansilingan, and employed by Procter and Gamble Philippines, told the police that unidentified men broke the right windshield of her Fuso Canter vehicle (KDD 793) and took her bag containing her two wallets with P20,000 in cash.

Attunaga, Senior Police Officers 1 Nilo Sumgayasay of the City Police’s Investigation and Detection Management Section and Mario dela Torre of the Vice Squad Section recovered P2,400 in cash, 1,000 Korean won and the bag of Tobungbanua from the suspects.

Aside from the three, the police also arrested Jimmy Silga, 47, of Purok Lubi after he allegedly misled the authorities and helped Arnaiz evade arrest.

Attunaga said they will investigate the involvement of the suspects in other street crimes like hold-ups. They also discovered that Arnaiz has a standing arrest warrant for theft with P26,000 bail, he added.*APN
