Showing proficiency and versatility in firearms, Tootsie Anglo of the Gun Club of Negros Occidental swept all three categories in the inaugural 3-Gun Championship of the International Practical Shooting Confederation held recently at Clark Eagle Sports Shooting Range, West Airfield Clark, Pampanga.
Anglo topped the Pistol Senior Production, Senior Open Semi-Auto Rifle, and the Senior Standard Manual Shotgun categories while placing second overall in the 3-Gun Austral-Asia award.
Heaping more recognition for the GCNO during the competition were couple Andy and Janette Gonzaga who triumphed over their opponents in their respective category.
Andy won the championship round in Standard Semi-Auto Shotgun senior division while his wife Janette retained her title as Standard champion and 3-Gun top shooter in the ladies’ bracket.
Also displaying impressive performances during the IPSC event were GCNO junior shooters Ralph Alvarez and Jose Leandro De Leon, who made their mark in their respective divisions.
Alvarez ruled the Shotgun Standard Junior category while De Leon showed his winning form in 3-Gun match.
The competition drew participation from more than 700 participants from various shooting regions all over the world.
The Negrense shooters from GCNO were pitted against world champions like Adam Tyc of the Czech Republic and Michael Voight of the United States.
The IPSC shootfest is considered as the ultimate test of speed and accuracy in all three shooting disciplines – handgun, shotgun, and rife – and Negros Occidental was represented by the veteran shooters from GCNO.
With their world-class skills, the GCNO members are expected to advance into the next level of competition, the Austral-Asia handgun competition set next year in Malaysia and the 2011 World Shoot event in Greece.*NAB
