City Police Officer-in-Charge Senior Supt. Celestino Guara said yesterday that he has ordered Station 1 chief Senior Insp. Luisito Acebuche to disarm a policeman for allegedly aiding a theft suspect escape.
Guara identified the policeman as Police Officer 1 Roldan Villa, one of the desk officers of Station 1.
Guara said Acebuche discovered that Villa was helping theft suspect Junelie Tulmo escape allegedly by informing him through text message that Station 1 policemen were conducting a manhunt operation on him on Wednesday.
Tulmo, 29, of Brgy, 29, Bacolod was apprehended in the barangay early morning Wednesday for allegedly snatching the shoulder bag of Gina Ponce, 29, of Sagay City, Negros Occidental at San Sebastian Street, Bacolod, police record showed.
Guara noted that when Tulmo was apprehended, the police recovered the victim's belongings and the suspect's cellular phone, where Acebuche read several text messages coming from a certain “Villa” telling the suspect to hide.
Acebuche verified the number and learned that the number of a certain “Villa” is the same as that of PO1 Villa, he added.
He said he has ordered a thorough investigation on the case while criminal case for obstruction of justice and administrative case for grave misconduct may be filed against Villa, who is now restricted from Station 1.
DAILY STAR tried, but failed to reach Villa for comment last night.*APN
