Cop linked to
robbery at gun store
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

The City Police's Investigation and Detective Management Section is now looking into the alleged involvement of a policeman in the robbery of a gun store in Bacolod this week, its head, Chief Insp. Leonardo Angcon, yesterday said.

On Monday, Charmaigne Gay Apale, 27, officer-in-charge of Shooter's Gun and Ammunition Corporation at Rizal Street , Bacolod reported that their store was looted of 16 high-powered and low-powered firearms, cash and several ammunitions.

Angcon said the policeman is being investigated since the witnesses claimed that he was seen near the gun store before the robbery was discovered at about 7:30 a.m.

Angcon, however, did not reveal whether the policeman is from Bacolod City Police Office, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office or from other police units, because they don't have his identity yet.

Once they have his name, he said they will subject him to finger print and lie detection tests to verify his participation in the incident.

As of now, Angcon said they are still concentrating on the angle of an inside job behind the robbery since there were no signs of forced entry based on investigation.

Angcon said they requested for a finger print examination from the crime laboratory of Negros Occidental and are now processing the request for the polygraph test for all the employees and the persons who were seen near the gun store before the robbery

City Police officer-in-charge Senior Supt. Celestino Guara said that they will already have concrete data on who will face charges for the robbery by next week.*APN
