Trike driver nabbed
for molesting minor

A trisikad driver tagged as a suspect in the molestation of a minor in Brgy. Paraiso, Sagay City , Negros Occidental, was arrested by policemen yesterday.

Senior Insp. Gabriel Gutierrez, Sagay police officer-in-charge, said the arrest of rape suspect, Randy Bilbao, was made after they recovered a bicycle he owns, near the crime scene.

Police investigation shows that Bilbao , who was suspected to have been under the influence of liquor, dragged and molested the 7-year-old victim inside a sugarcane plantation in the barangay, on Nov. 6.

Gutierrez said the minor who was traumatized by her molestation, is now being treated at a hospital in Sagay.

During interrogation at the Sagay police station, police said Bilbao admitted to having molested the child.

Gutierrez said the minor, whose identity is being withheld, cried after they showed her the picture of the suspect.

Rape charges are expected to be filed today by the Sagay police against Bilbao , who is now in jail.*GPB

3 apprehended for hold-up

Three persons, one of them a minor, were apprehended by Station 1 men in a hot pursuit operation at Rosario-Araneta streets for alleged involvement in hold up incidents in Bacolod City, at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Police Officer 2 Joshua Barile said yesterday.

Barile identified those arrested as Niel Leongson, 18, of Brgy. 39, Edison Sajo, 22, and a 12-year-old minor, whose name is being withheld by the DAILY STAR and a resident of Brgy. 14, all in Bacolod .

Barile said the suspects were identified by at least three hold-up victims in Bacolod on November 9 at the Bacolod downtown area, and that, they are also involved in snatching activities, he added.

Barile, Police Officers 1 Johnny Dela Peña and Andy Bigcas with members of the Task Force Negros Intelligence Operatives recovered a bottle of mineral water containing suspected rugby from Sajo, police records showed.

The police are inviting other victims of hold-up incidents, especially in areas under Station 1 to identify the suspects. Charges will be filed against Sajo and Leongson, while the minor will be referred to the Social Development Center at the Bacolod City Police Office.*APN

6 cops detailed to BCPO

Six additional police officers were deployed at the Bacolod City Police Office starting this week to boost the police force, City Police officer-in-charge, Senior Supt. Celestino Guara, said yesterday.

The new members of BCPO are Senior Police Officer 1 Anthony Gabiano from the Police Regional Office 6 Headquarters Service Group and now assigned at the administrative office; Police Officers 3 Santiago Gaitan from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office Operation's Branch, who is now detailed at the City Police Admin office; and Anthony Gabiano, also from NOPPO and now the liaison police non-commissioned officer.

Police Officer 2 Hazel Oropel and PO1 Glenn Acosta, both from NOPPO and now assigned at the admin office, are also new members of BCPO.

Chief Insp. Rone Grajo, who is also from NOPPO, has been transferred to BCPO starting Monday, but Guara said he has not given him any designation yet.

Guara said the new BCPO members will be in addition to their 446 police personnel. He reminded them to do their job well and uphold their commitment to public service.

Before the arrival of the new police officers, several officers from the Regional Mobile Group 6 were also deployed in the 10 police stations in Bacolod and at BCPO headquarters.*APN
