Ticel Corp. ready to defend
NBA Governor's Cup crown

Defending champion powerhouse team Ticel Corp. of Iloilo City will be definitely playing in the second edition of the Negros Basketball Association's Gov. Isidro Zayco Cup that is set to start on Nov. 21 for Division I squads at Tay Tung High School 's Po Hang in Bacolod City .

Ticel will be challenged by NOPSSCEA top four squads West Negros University , Colegio San Agustin Bacolod, University of Negros Occidental Recoletos and University of St. La Salle . Adamson University and Toyota-Iloilo have yet to confirm their participation in Division I, a press release from the NBA said.

Division II participants La Carlota City, Cadiz City and Hinigaran will be joined by Department of Public Works and Highways, Basketball Unified Sports Group and CSA-Bacolod ex-varsitarians. Coverdale is another probable entry.

Inter-media bowlfest
set November 21

The Negros Press Club/Coca-Cola Bottlers Phils.-organized Intermedia Bowling Tournament rolls off Nov.21 at the Super Lanes of the Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City .

Pintoppling action will start at 1 p.m.

Tournament committee chairman Henceboy Cestina said the tournament is open to all reporters, writers, cameraman, office and production staff of newspaper publications, radio and television media outlets in Negros Occidental.

The purpose of the two-day event he said is to promote, enhance and foster the spirit of friendship, camaraderie among the participating teams.

Melligen gets ready
for Las Vegas' fight

As the nation gets ready for the Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto fight this Sunday, Bacoleño Mark Melligen is training his sights on another boxing conquest on Saturday (Phil. Time) at the Mandalay Bay 's House of Blues in Las Vegas .

Considered as one of the rising light welterweight stars in Bob Arum's Top Rank stable, Melligen will slug it out against Mexican Michel Rosales in the welterweight division.

Along with former world title challenger Z “The Dream” Gorrres, Melligen has been training hard and working out at the Mayweather Gym in Las Vegas .
