Mayor Rodolfo Gonzalez of Valencia , Negros Oriental, has declared war against criminality in his municipality.
“The war against criminality is not over,” he said, following the arrest of three suspects believed to be responsible for the string of burglaries in the town, recently.
Police investigation showed that the suspects are also linked to burglaries involving foreign nationals living in Valencia .
Gonzalez declared the war agai nst criminality during the peace and order council meeting in the town. During the meeting, the Philippine National Police reported that three burglaries have been consummated and seven were attempted, in Valencia .
He urged Valencianons to continue their vigilance against lawless elements.
The local government has is also set to issue a monetary reward and citations to members of the local police who were instrumental in the arrest of the suspects.
Gonzalez disclosed that the LGU will likewise give a monetary reward to anybody who will provide information that will lead to the arrest of suspects of any crime in Valencia .
The mayor has also called for the strengthening of the neighborhood crime watch groups in the 24 barangays. This has proved effective in terms of arrests of criminals and in deterring crimes, he said.
Local efforts have been heightened to tighten the net around felons operating in the town, he said.
The mayor also pledged to provide the local police force with vehicles.
