About P1.3 million in cash and jewelry were stolen by three robbers who ransacked a residence at La Salle Avenue , Bacolod , at about 2 p.m. Friday, Senior Police Officer 1 Oscar Exaltado said yesterday.

Exaltado, the lead investigator on case, said the owner of the house, whose name he withheld for security reasons, left the house earlier on Friday with her driver, and only the maid, whose identity is also being withheld, was there when the incident happened.

Based on the maid's account, one of the suspects threatened her with a knife, tied her hands with a rope, her legs with a bra and locked her inside the servant's quarters, Exaltado said.

Minutes later, the maid was able to loosen the rope on her hands, untied her feet and sought help from their neighbors but the suspects had already escaped, he added.

Investigation showed that the suspects sawed the grills and destroyed the screen of a window to enter the owner's bedroom, and took P300,000 in cash and P1 million in jewelry from the dresser inside the restroom.

The maid failed to identify the suspects because they covered their faces with black cloths, but said they were about 5 feet to 5 feet and 4 inches tall and were of medium build, Exaltado added.

Meanwhile, robbers also looted an apartment at 13 th Lacson streets at about 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Exaltado said.

Airene Rose Gustilo, 19, of Ylagan Street , San Carlos City, and daughter of Provincial Board Member Renato Gustilo, reported to the police that the suspects took her two laptops, three wristwatches, a gold ring with diamonds, bracelet and earrings.

The suspects opened the steel gate's barrel bolt and entered Gustilo's room using a false key, Exaltado said.
