Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and 612 th Provincial Mobile Group policemen raided a firecracker manufacturer's warehouse in Barangay Anahaw, Hinigaran, Saturday morning.
The raid yielded 91 boxes and 33 sacks of firecrackers estimated at P200,000, a police report said.
Chief Insp. Cesar Paday-os, CIDG provincial head, said the joint operation was conducted by virtue of a search warrant issued by Judge Allan Drilon of Regional Trial Court Branch 41-Bacolod City.
The subject of the operation was Navarro Baylon Jr., 44, of the place and one of the town's alleged biggest firecrackers dealers, the police report said.
He was arrested for violating Republic Act 7183 or the law on firecrackers.
Felix has directed all the 31 chiefs of police to confiscate banned pyrotechnics like “watusi” and “piccolo” as these types of firecrackers are considered harmful and deadly particularly to children.
Meanwhile, a homemade .38 caliber revolver was surrendered to the 613 th Provincial Mobile Group by a resident of Barangay San Miguel in La Carlota City, Saturday, a Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office press release said.
Supt. Edgardo Ordaniel, group director of the 613 th PMG based in Hinigaran town, said that Joseph Naul endorsed to Police Officer 2 Niel Tilanas the loose gun, after a series of dialogs was conducted by the police in the area.*
