| Hold-up suspect,
3 others nabbed Policemen arrested an alleged hold-up suspect and three other persons with pending arrest warrants in court, in the cities of Victorias and Kabankalan, Negros Occidental, Friday.
Supt. Jomil John Trio yesterday said the arrest of Eden Virgo, 22, at the public plaza of Victorias , yielded an improvised .38 caliber revolver with two rounds of ammunition.
Trio, Victorias police chief, said Virgo who tried to flee and was later arrested by pursuing policemen, was tagged as a notorious hold-up suspect in the place.
Three suspects with pending arrest warrants were also separately apprehended by the police in Kabankalan.
Noli de la Torre, 39 was nabbed in Brgy. Hilamonan, Kabankalan, by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Henry Arles for murder, and with a recommended bail of P200,000.
Senior Police Officer 1 William Sabla-on also apprehended Demetrio, 44, and Ronaldo, 24, both surnamed Valencia , for grave coercion, in the same barangay.
Judge Cyclamen Fernandez has recommended a P12,000 bail for each of the suspects who are now locked up in jail.*GPB

More guns,
explosives recovered
The Negros Occidental police recovered a vintage bomb, two explosives and seven more unlicensed firearms during the weekend, less than a week before the gun amnesty program of the government ends on Nov. 30.
Chief Insp. Samuel Mina yesterday said they recovered a vintage bomb, which was discovered by Rollie Alvior while plowing the sugarcane plantation of Bartolome Lacson at Hacienda Pilar, Brgy. Alicante , in E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental.
Mina said the raid at the house of Arnold Buenafe in E.B. Magalona also yielded an unlicensed .38 caliber revolver with four rounds of ammunition.
Buenafe, 46, is now detained at the lock-up cell of the E.B. Magalona police station.
Troopers of the 11 th Infantry Battalion, meanwhile, endorsed Paciano Candeveros to the Kabankalan City police station, who was arrested for illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
Supt. Calixto Mabugat, Kabankalan police chief, said a hand grenade, a .45 caliber pistol and a homemade shotgun were recovered by soldiers from Candeveros.
Mabugat said another .38 caliber revolver was recovered from the possession of a certain Ramonito Carson in Brgy. Locutan, in Kabankalan.
Senior Insp. Arnold Mesias said an unlicensed .38 caliber revolver was also surrendered by an unidentified person to the Hinobaan police station.
An M-203 grenade launcher ammunition was also surrendered to the Murcia police station on Friday, police records show.
Brgy. Capt. Edilberto Baynosa and Antonio Lopez, 43, also surrendered two homemade firearms, respectively, to Insp. Mateo Maguate, Toboso police chief, in support of the “Kontra Boga” campaign of the Philippine National Police.
The recovery of five more unlicensed firearms and a hand grenade brought to 140 the total number of guns accounted for by the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office from January to November this year.
Senior Supt. Manuel Felix, police director of Negros Occidental, commended the 11th IB and the local officials for their support to the PNP's Oplan "Kontra Boga" campaign, as part of the Team NEGROS action plan particularly in neighborhood involvement and partnership.*GPB

12 new Inspectors
detailed to NOPPO Twelve new police officers with the rank of Inspector have been reassigned to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office effective November 19, a NOPPO press release said.
Chief Insp. Regidor Alvarado, NOPPO Administrative branch chief, said the new Inspectors were formerly assigned with the Negros Occidental PNP as non-commissioned officers before their officership through lateral entry.
Inspectors Edfel Balibadlan, Clifford Batadjay, John Joel Batusbatusan, Gil John Despi, Anthony Grande, Rolly Pondevilla, Romeo Vargas, Jesus Mesahon Jr., Lowel Garinganao, Sherlock Gabana, John Ganzon and Hector Tanio were welcomed by NOPPO director, Senior Supt. Manuel Felix, Friday, the press release said.
They will be temporarily detailed to the NOPPO Headquarters at Camp Alfredo Montelibano before they will be dispatched to the various city police stations as deputy chiefs of police as well as the four provincial mobile groups as deputy group directors, the press release added.*
