Getting back their rhythm in time, La Consolacion College-Murcia elementary volleyball boys' team squeezed out a 25-16, 27-25 victory over Queen of Peace School to win the title while St. John's Institute girls' team turned back St. Scholastica's Academy, 25-19, 25-16 to claim the crown in the NOPSSCEA elementary volleyball competition.

With a twice-to-beat advantage stock on their side, LCC-Murcia was had a scare against QPS in their first encounter yesterday morning as the latter tamed the Christian Oliveros-mentored Murciahanons, 19-25, 20-25, to arrange a playoff match yesterday afternoon.

QPS barged into the championship round after beating early favorite St. John's Institute in three sets, 18-25, 25-23, 25-22, while the Johnians managed to secure the third place honors by dismissing Jack ‘N Jill School-PHHC.

AACI Transport eliminates Chemis
in Fil-Sino 3 rd Conference cagefest

AACI Transport ousted Chemisolutions, 89-77, to capture the last seat in the quarterfinals while Sweet Crystal claimed the third spot by beating Basecom, 91-89, in the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. 3rd Conference Inter-Color Basketball tournament at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

Overcoming a 60-54 deficit in the third quarter, AACI banked on the trio of Brian Tan and Vincent Javelosa, who scored an identical nine points each while Christopher Javelosa added six markers to outscore Chemisolutions, 28 to 11, in the payoff quarter.

Both teams took turns in grabbing the lead in the four quarters of play as Chemisolutions was ahead at 20-17 in the opening minutes with Archie Co spearheading the attack with six points while Christopher Javelosa kept AACI within striking distance with 11 inside points.

3,500 runners join
Dumaguete marathon

DUMAGUETE CITY – The resonant boom from a giant firecracker, followed by a 15-minute fireworks show at 5:30 a.m., broke the silence of Dumaguete City's Rizal Boulevard yesterdayay to send some 3500 competitive and fun runners on their feet for the first-ever Dumaguete Adventure Marathon which organizers and participants hailed as a successful event. 

Competitive runners for the 28.3-kilometer adventure marathon came from all over the country to include Dumaguete, Bacolod, Silay, Cebu, Diplog, Iloilo, Manila, Quezon City, Makati, Mandaue, Sta. Maria, Butuan, San Juan, Lapu-Lapu, San Carlos, Parañaque, Cavite, Bago, Talisay, Toldedo, Dapitan, and Pasig.
