4 nabbed in drug raid

Policemen yesterday raided an alleged drug den and arrested four persons allegedly in the act of engaging in pot session in San Carlos City , Negros Occidental.

Supt. Harold Tuzon said the raid at the residence of Rizalde Ramirez in Brgy. 1 Poblacion, San Carlos , conducted by virtue of a search warrant issued by Judge Danilo Amisola, yielded an estimated 1.2 grams of suspected shabu and its assorted paraphernalia.

Tuzon, San Carlos police chief, said they also arrested Ramirez and three others identified as Joseph Belleza, Jonathan Gabon, and Ricardo Parel, who were caught allegedly in the act of sniffing shabu.

Kagawad Joselito Lopez and barangay tanod chief Isagani Surdivillar witnessed the drug raid, which was headed by Tuzon.

Tuzon added that the system of giving cash rewards to anybody who may provide information leading to the arrest of suspected drug peddlers, boosted their anti-drug operations in San Carlos .

The four arrested suspects are now detained at the lock-up cell of the San Carlos City police station.*GPB

Call center agent
injured in rob-try

A call center agent was injured in her attempt to save herself from being robbed by the driver of a passenger jeep she was on at about 4 p.m. Tuesday, police said yesterday.

The 21-year-old victim, whose name the police withheld, of Escalante City , Negros Occidental, boarded the jeepney plying the Shopping-Libertad route in front of Sugarland Hotel, in Brgy. Singcang-Airport Monday on her way to work at the Transcom City call center in Brgy. Tangub, Police Officer 3 Aries Escarda said.

The jeepney did not stop when they passed Transcom City . The driver then threatened the victim, who was sitting in the front seat, declared a hold-up, and tried to grab her bag prompting her to jump off vehicle, Escarda added.

Although the victim sustained several injuries and scratches, she went to Station 8 to report the incident, that led to the arrest of the suspect during the follow-up operation, he said.

Station 8 chief, Senior Insp. Placido Gentoleo, identified the suspect as Arman Cambarihan, 25, of Hacienda Puyas, Brgy. Blumenttrit , Murcia . He was arrested at the residence of his mother-in-law in Purok Mainabyanon, Brgy. Pahanocoy.

Escarda said based on their investigation the suspect only borrowed the jeepney from its original driver, when he staged the alleged foiled robbery.

A .45 caliber pistol with four live ammunition was recovered from Cambarihan when he was arrested, a police report said.

Meanwhile, in a twist of fate, the Bacolod City police arrested a complainant at about 11 p.m. Monday when they learned that he had a pending arrest warrant for robbery, Police Officer 3 Celito Dullan said.

Police identified the complainant-turned-suspect as Richard Regoles, 21, of Purok Bag-ong Dalan, Brgy. 16, Bacolod , who is now detained at the lock-up cell of Station 1.

Regoles complained that he was attacked by a certain “Ronnie” and a certain “Yotyot”, both of Bag-ong Dalan, who were armed with bladed weapons while he was in their residence, Dullan said.

Regoles has pending arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 43 Judge Philadelfa Pogapong-Agraviador. Station 1 Warrant and Subpoena Section operatives Police Officer 3 Joshua Barile and PO1 Johnny dela Peña led the arrest of Regoles.*APN
