The Bacolod City government will release financial assistance for the Nov. 2 fire victims of Barangay 19 in Bacolod City next week, Social Service and Development head Sally Abelarde said yesterday.
Abelarde said the process took a long time since they had to sanitize the data and statistics of the official lists of the homeowners, sharers, and renters and have them validated with the Barangay 19 officials because there are many claiming that they are also renters.
She said the city is now in the process of preparing the documents for the release of financial assistance to the fire victims.
Abelarde said the city government will provide P5,000 for those whose houses were destroyed, P3,000 for those damaged, and P1,500 for sharers, and P1,000 for renters.
She said there were about 60 houses that were damaged by the fire.
Abelarde said about P1 million in cash donations have already been released to the fire victims and were directly distributed to them by the donors, while the DSSD and the city only recorded them and facilitated things.
She said the Department of Social Welfare and Development also provided cash assistance of P10,000 to the families of each 17 casualties.
