Dispatching their respective lower seeded opponents in the quarterfinals, No. 3 Sweet Crystal Sugar and No. 4 JSY Transport secured their tickets to the semifinal round in the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. 3rd Conference InterColor Tournament, Wednesday night at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

Tallying 29 points at the end of the game, Rey Pandoro led Sweet Crystal past No. 6 team AACI Trransport, 108-90, while Arvin Gustilo scored 16 of his 31 points down the stretch to ensure an 85-75 JSY Transport victory over No. 5 Basecom.

In taming AACI Transport, the trio of RJ Iligan, Atong Villanueva and Kib Montalbo combined for 21 points in the opening minutes to jumpstart Sweet Crystal's fiery performance, while Ton Ton Chua tried to counter attack with 10 points for the AACI squad.

Negros bowlers to join Capiz tilt

Active Solid Strikers Fellowship Bowlers Inc. and Negros Professional Bowlers Club will participate in the 1st Invitational Open Trio Duckpin and 2009 Sinadya sa Halaran Regional Open Trio Bowling Tournaments set Dec. 3 up to 6, at the Capiz Bowling Sports Complex and at Rock N' Bowl Lanes in Roxas City.

The Davies team of Romel Jover and Irne Diaz' Sharp, will also be sending their selection to the competition.

The ASSFBI team is headed by Edgar Allan Del Rosario, Cecil Silverio and Romulo Ramos, while NPBC/LJP/Tough Truck/RJ squad is mentored by Steve Po, Gil Villagante and Jaime Chua.

Boxer Gorres shows
sign of recovery

Eleven days after undergoing emergency neurosurgery in Las Vegas , Filipino boxer Z Gorres is slowly showing signs of recovery.

In an e-mail sent to philboxing.com, ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer said Gorres can now be placed in a sitting position and can give numbers one to four if instructed to.

Aldeguer said these are all good signs from a neuorological standpoint.
