An unidentified Ilonggo-speaking man called Transcom City Call Center Tuesday night and told the guard on duty that one of the firm's agents had brought a pillbox into their building that would explode, Senior Police Officer 1 Danny Abalayan said yesterday.
The guard, identified as Cristy Mae Aprobitsado, received the call at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and informed chief guard Bryan Latumbo, who immediately called the Bacolod police headquarters.
Station 8 men led by Robi Canieso, the City Police's Investigation and Detective Management Section led by Abalayan and two K-9 bomb sniffing dogs of the Philippine Coast Guard-Bacolod were dispatched to the area.
The K-9 bomb sniffing dogs searched the area for almost three hours but no pillbox was found, Abalayan said.
They are eyeing a dismissed employee of the company as the culprit behind the prank call, he said.
Earlier on Tuesday, an Ilonggo-speaking man also called the Social Security System and said that a bomb would explode, which also turned out to be a prank call.
City Police officer-in-charge, Senior Supt. Celestino Guara, said establishments should install caller I.D. systems so those responsible for the prank calls can be traced.*APN
