DepEd sets
restructuring in Region 7
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The Department of Education is implementing a new program that was rolled out at a conference workshop of school heads, administrators, principals, supervisors, and division superintendents in Negros Oriental yesterday.

Present at the conference were DepEd regional director Recaredo Borgonia and Dr. Corazon Dumlao of DepEd Manila.

Negros Oriental division superintendent, Dr. Milagros Velez, said the new program refers to the restructuring of the units in each division under Republic Act 9155. It is a matter of realigning resources, priorities and job descriptions, Region 7 of which is a pilot area, she said.

Before, supervisors of a certain subject were focused only on such subject, but under the new program, it will be multi-disciplinary, it added.

Meanwhile, the shortened hours in school will be implemented in selected areas in the province where there are lack of classrooms, among them, Ayungon, Velez said.

It will also be implemented in areas where teachers and children run the risk of going home late.*JG
