Two were killed and another was injured in shooting and stabbing incidents during the weekend at the MassKara Festival site, records from the Bacolod City police showed yesterday.
Police identified the casualties as Apolinario Gumawas, 18, of Purok Boulevard , Brgy. 14, and Denis Flores, 17, of Brgy. Villamonte, all in Bacolod City .
Gumawas sustained multiple stab wounds on his chest, abdomen and both arms, while Flores sustained a lone gunshot wound on his back, police record shows.
Injured was Alvin Estilo, 17, of Purok Este, Brgy. Pahanocoy, Bacolod , who sustained a lone stab wound on his right arm.
Police Officer 2 Donnie Garcia yesterday said, Gumawas, a trisikad driver, and his friend Marlon Bayotas were watching some revelers dancing at the junction of San Juan and Gonzaga streets at about 1 a.m. on Saturday, when the suspect, Bryan Pancho, alias “RR”, of Purok Paglaum, Brgy. 30 allegedly went berserk.
Witnesses said Pancho suddenly stabbed Gumawas and Estilo, who was dancing with his companions, with a “samurai” before fleeing, Garcia told the DAILY STAR.
Garcia added that the team led by Senior Insp. Luisito Acebuche arrested Wilfredo Ortega, 21, of Purok Malaparon, Brgy. 30 in a follow up operation and Estilo identified him as one of Pancho's companions.
Meanwhile, Flores was shot dead at about 3 a.m. yesterday at the Bacolod Public Plaza because of gang rivalry, Police Officer 2 Jonathan Guillena reported.
Guillena said that after a follow-up operation, suspects Joshua, 19 and Doden Bustamante, 18, of Fortune Towne, Brgy. Estefania were arrested and are now detained at the lock up cell of station 1.
Witnesses claimed the elder Bustamante was the one responsible for shooting Flores , he added.
Guillena said they recovered three live ammunitions from the younger Bustamante. He also said both of them will be subjected to paraffin testing.
In another incident, Rodrigo Haincado of Silay City , Negros Occidental was shot by two men on a motorcycle at about midnight on Friday at B.S. Aquino drive, Bacolod , with an improvised shot gun, locally known as sumpak.
Haincado sustained a lone stab wound on his temple and is now recuperating at CLMMRH while Crime Against Person investigators are now trying to establish the motive for the shooting.*APN
