Two MassKara Queen 2009 candidates said presidential aspirants should focus on poverty and education problems.
Romelie Laura, 19, said many Filipinos have no shelter and even food on their tables and politicians, especially those who aspire to be the next President of the Philippines , should look for ways to help them.
Laura, a first year Tourism student from the ABE International Business College , added that government leaders should provide free education through scholarships to battle poverty.
Doanne Stephanie Peraren, 17, stressed that, through education, many problems that we have today will be resolved, including the worsening criminality.
Peraren, a Seafarers Catering and Stewarding student of VMA Global College , said many people commit crimes because they lack proper education and cannot land good jobs.
She said President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo should look for ways to boost education in the country.
Peraren, Laura and eight other MassKara Queen candidates competed yesterday in the swimsuit competition at the swimming pool at the deck roof of the newly constructed addition to L'Fisher hotel, the L'Fisher Chalet.
Through the latin drum beat, the MassKara Queen bets paraded in their two-piece swimwear and were judged on their beauty, grace, poise and bearing.
Judges were dentist Arlene Tan, artist William Cramer and TV host and former MassKara Queen, Carmela Arcolas-Gamboa.*APN
