Vaccination of
dogs urged
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

A resolution urging Bacolod City Veterinarian Dr. Adelo Daroy to strictly implement the yearly mass registration and vaccination of dogs in Bacolod City was passed by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Napoleon Cordova, also urged the city veterinarian to conduct impounding activities of stray dogs in the city pursuant to Republic Act 9482, or the Anti Rabies Act of 2007.

The resolution said that the provisions of R.A. 9482 should be fully adopted because of the prevalence of dog bites as reported by the Local Health Board, for the prevention of the spread, and eventual eradication of animal rabies.

It said that in observance of the World Rabies Day that falls every 28 th of September, yearly mass registration and vaccination of dogs and impounding of stray ones should be strictly implemented.

Meanwhile, the SP also passed a resolution adapting “Hataw sa NGC” as a regimen of Bacolod City Government employees to be rendered every Monday at 7:45 a.m. after the flag-raising ceremony.

It said the Civil Service Commission had issued memorandum circular No. 6, Series of 1995 requiring all government agencies to adapt “The Great Filipino Workout”, it said.

The program aims to inculcate among government employees the importance of healthy lifestyle and a regimen of regular physical fitness activities as a strategy to reduce the level of risk factor of cardiovascular diseases, which is now listed among the top 10 leading cause of death among Filipinos, it added.*CGS
