President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has directed concerned government agencies to help farmers displaced by typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng, and ensure adequate supply of goods in the coming months, a Malacañang press release said.
Deputy Spokesperson Anthony Golez said initial damages to the farm sector have reached P5.5 billion.
“It is still rising because we have yet to receive reports from different regions,” he said in the press release.

The graduate school of the Technological University of the Philippines-Visayas and the West Negros University will hold a seminar on international business opportunities from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the WNU GGA Audio Visual Center in Bacolod City , a press release from the organizers said.
The seminar, which will also take up legalities in venturing into the global market, will have Roberto Montelibano, Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry president, and Department of Trade and Industry provincial head, Rebecca Rascon, as speakers.
