Gary willing to accept
VP nomination
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

Finance Sec. Margarito “Gary” Teves has not totally closed his doors to seeking the country's second highest elective position in next year's polls, if he gets the nod from the Lakas-CMD-Kampi coalition of the administration.

Former Negros Oriental Rep. Herminio Teves said his son, Gary, is just waiting for the announcement on who shall be anointed as the administration's bet for vice president, in tandem with its standard bearer Sec. Gilbert Teodoro of the Department of National Defense.

The older Teves said Secretary Teves and Secretary Puno are the two main choices of the administration but nothing is final yet, until the coalition makes its announcement within the next ten days.

Sec. Teves's bid for the vice-presidency received a boost after the Philippine Councilors' League recently signed a resolution endorsing him as the candidate for vice president during its national conference.

Former Rep. Teves said his son was initially viewed as appealing to the upper A-B brackets while Puno was more inclined to get the support of the masses but the scenario changed for Sec. Teves with the PCL's endorsement.

He expressed optimism that in the event Sec. Teves is named the administration's vice presidential bet, he will get the majority of the votes from the Visayas and Mindanao regions.*JFP
