Bacolod Cultural Foundation Inc. president Luz Lacson yesterday announced the postponement of their Grand Ball and Fashion Show scheduled on October 9, in the light of the recent floods that hit Manila and other parts of Luzon .

The members decided that it would be callous on their part to continue with the celebration in the face of death and suffering of their fellow Filipinos, Lacson said in a letter to their benefactors and sponsors.

The affair has been rescheduled to Dec. 27, she said. “Rest assured that we will take good care of the funds already entrusted to us for the Cultural Center Building,” she said.*

SJI receives awards

St. John's Institute in Bacolod City has been awarded the Exemplary School Performance Awards for ranking among the Top 10 in Grade 2 Mathematics Test since SY 2003-04 to 2007-08 and as the Top Performing School in Grade 4 Mathematics Test for the SY 2008-2009 by the Center for Educational Measurement, a press release from SJI said .

The award was given during the CEM's 31 st Anniversary at the University of San Carlos-North Campus, Cebu City , recently.

CEM Achievement/Diagnostic Tests are designed to measure academic ability and achievement of students in English, Reading/Pagbasa, Mathematics, Science, and Filipino, the press release said . *

Miss Gay MassKara set

The Bacolod Gay Association is presenting the Ms. Gay MassKara Battle of the Queens 2009, at the Bacolod BAYS Center , as their participation in the 30th MassKara Festival celebration.

Talent Night will be at 7 p.m. October 10, while the Pageant Night will be at 7 p.m. October 11, a City Hall press release said.*
