Gunman shoots Bacoleño

A sexagenarian was injured when an unidentified gunman fired several times at his residence in Bacolod City at about 1 a.m. yesterday, Police Officer 3 Celito Dullan said.

Dullan identified the victim as Rommel dela Cruz, 65, of corner Kamagong and Agho streets, who sustained a lone gunshot wound on his chest.

Dullan said that, before the shooting, an unidentified man asked the victim's wife for his whereabouts. When the victim was about to open the door, the suspect who was standing about three meters away fired at him.

Dela Cruz was rushed to Bacolod Doctor's Hospital and was later transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital . The suspect fled bringing the firearm he used.

Two shells of a .9-millimeter pistol were recovered from the scene while a slug of the same caliber was found embedded in the door of Dela Cruz house, Dullan told the DAILY STAR.

Dullan said they already have witnesses and have identified the suspect, whose identity he refused to divulge in order not to hamper their operations.

Meanwhile, Police Officer 3 Jonathan Guillena said Joshua, 19, and Doden Bustamante, 18, have already undergone paraffin tests to ascertain, who had shot to death Dennis Flores, 17, of Villamonte on Sunday at the Bacolod Public Plaza.

Flores succumbed to a lone gunshot wound on his back at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital several minutes after the shooting.

Despite the suspects' denial, Guillena said they will file homicide charges against them after the results of the paraffin test have been released and they are found positive.*APN
