RP absorbs 2 nd defeat,
bows to Chinese Taipei

Host Team Philippines yielded to Chinese Taipei, 1-4, to absorb its second defeat in the Asian Football Confederation Under-16 Group E Qualifier yesterday at the Pana-ad Stadium football pitch.

Despite the loss, national team head coach Glenn Ramos remained optimistic that the RP XI squad will be able to pull off a surprise in their remaining two games, against Indonesia tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. and against Bangladesh , Friday.

“The boys showed a big improvement in the game against the Chinese as compared to our first game against the Japanese,” Ramos said.

NOPSSCEA MEN'S BASKETBALL
WNU Mustangs claim
11 th straight title

West Negros University stretched its NOPSSCEA collegiate basketball championship run to 11 seasons last night after completing a two-game sweep of its title series against Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod at the CSA-B Gym in Bacolod City .

The Mustangs came away with a 96-81 triumph over the Eagles in Game 2, ensuring their title streak got another extension, a press release from the school said.

The Mustangs, drawing solid performances from their reserve players, pulled away late in Game 1 for an 89-75 at the WNU Gym.

SMB vs. Sta. Lucia
in Victorias Nov. 7

With its impressive Sports Coliseum, Victorias City will once again host a PBA game on Nov. 7, this time between San Miguel Beermen and Sta. Lucia Realtors.

The game in Victorias is one of the nine calendared provincial games for the PBA Philippine Cup, set to kick off Oct. 11 at the Araneta Coliseum.

Before taking on Sta. Lucia in Victorias City , the Beermen will face Alaska Aces on Oct. 17 in the very first out-of-town game of the league's 35th season.
