Kako gives funds to scholars

The Commission on Higher Education through the Priority Development Assistance Fund of Rep. Jose Carlos ”Kako” Lacson (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) awarded checks for P5,000 to each of the 720 scholars at the Third District office in Talisay City yesterday.

Lacson allotted P4 million from his PDAF for the educational needs of the students in his district. The scholars will receive the P5,000 yearly, a press release from his office said.

The continuing scholarship program of the Third District is aimed at providing financial aid and educational opportunities to the less fortunate, Lacson said.

He said this scholarship will develop strengths of the youths and equip them with better skills and knowledge to become future leaders, role models, and a positive influence to their peers.

Present at the awarding of checks were CHED region VI director Rex Casiple, CHED chief administrative officer and scholarship coordinator Nona Fernandez, and CHED staff members Josephine Sorongon and Wilma Buyco.*
