A couple was hacked dead, while their son survived, despite multiple injuries when they were attacked by a relative who was drunk Sunday night, in Sitio Granada, Brgy. Poblacion, Toboso, Negros Occidental.
Senior Insp. Nestor Tuadles, Toboso police chief, yesterday said the killing spree claimed the lives of Gonzalo Pidilion and his wife, Evelyn, both 50 years old.
Their son, Jimmy, 30, who survived, is now being treated for hack wounds, at the Vicente Gustilo Memorial District Hospital in Escalante City .
Pursuit operations initiated by the Toboso police led to the arrest of the suspect identified as Roy Pescala, a nephew of the couple, who was found sleeping at his residence in Toboso, apparently having taken too much alcoholic liquor.
Tuadles said the killing was triggered by intrigues and old grudges.
The bodies of the couple bore multiple hack wounds, police investigations showed.
Tuadles said Pescala did not resist arrest.
Meanwhile, Toboso police investigators are still clueless as to the identities of the three men who shot dead Reynaldo Bucaling, a farmer, also on Sunday, in Brgy. Bug-ang, Toboso.
Bucaling was shot with an M-16 assault rifle by one of the three unidentified armed men, without any provocation, in front of his wife, Leonida, at about 5 a.m. Sunday.
Tuadles reiterated his call to any witness to the incident, to share with them any information that may lead to the identification of the killers.
Karapatan-Negros accused members of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade of being behind the killing of Bucaling.*GPB
