bash for a grand lady

The evening buzzed with excitement and anticipation as Bacolod’s ‘crème de la crème’ gathered to celebrate the 84th birthday party of well-loved grande dame, Nena de Leon. The huge grand ballroom of Bacolod Pavillion was eye-catchingly adorned with elegant floral arrangements providing a sophisticated ambiance for the fashionable guests who quickly filled up the place.

The celebrator looked ‘younger than springtime’ in her shocking pink gown as she welcomed her dear friends and admirers. The years have been kind to Nena with her slim figure and glowing face. Her energy was incredible as she gracefully flitted all over the huge hall all night.

A very special guest was her beloved cousin and best friend, Azucena Vera Perez of Sampaguita Pictures, who surprised Nena with her sudden arrival that morning. Nena’s joy knew no bounds at this outpouring of love from her 92-year-old cousin who came all the way from Manila just to join in her celebration. The already super atmosphere was further enhanced by the glorious culinary feast specially prepared for the occasion.

Drinks flowed all night to complement the scrumptious spread.

Guests were delightfully entertained with songs from singing celebrities Pinky Marquez and Cathy Melendrez. Other musical numbers were presented by Nena’s family and staff who gave their all. Rene Novero and Rep. Monico Puentevella serenaded the celebrator. What brought the house down was the duet number by Azucena Vera Perez and Nena who sang “Historia de un Amor” (with feeling, pa!).
