Waters rise in three
Tangub puroks

BY ADRIAN NEMES

Heavy rains since Tuesday night caused by typhoon “Pepeng” caused floodwater to rise in three puroks of Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod and affected at least 50 families, Jomarie Vargas of the City Disaster Coordinating Council yesterday said.

Vargas said, however, that only five families evacuated to the Rodrigo Medel Elementary School when floodwaters rose up to at least 3 feet deep in Puroks Paghidaet, Kapawa and Roadside.

Vargas also said that Barangay Tangub’s People’s Hall was not spared and was also flooded.

Aside from Barangay Tangub, Vargas noted that other areas in Bacolod were also submerged in at least two feet deep floodwater.

He identified these areas as Earth Street in Fuentebella Subdivision in Brgy. Taculing, Libertad-Lacson, Magsaysay-Araneta, and Alijis-Araneta streets and the Libertad public market.

Although these areas were also affected by flood, Vargas said there were no reported evacuations.

Based on the monitoring of the CDCC, as of 4:30 p.m. yesterday, the floodwaters in most of these areas had already subsided.

The CDCC is monitoring the low land areas in Bacolod, and the Magsungay, Banago and Lupit creeks are also being closely monitored especially because typhoon “Pepeng” is still in the Philippine Area of Responsibility.*APN
