Beauty pageants are relevant because, more than just being a competition, it is an avenue where one can build self-confidence and gain new friends, two MassKara Queen bets said yesterday.
Maria Adora Uy, 22, said that, aside from building self-confidence, beauty contests are also a means where one can reach out to the community in cooperation with cause-oriented organizations.
The nursing graduate from the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos also stressed that beauty contests will help a person harness her communication skills.
Uy, who likes reading novels, said she joined the MQ pageant because she wants to discover her potentials.
