Floods hit 11,721
Negrenses, too

Heavy rains triggered knee to waist-high floods in four towns and one city in Negros Occidental affecting 11,721 Negrenses yesterday, Provincial Social Welfare Officer Liane Garcia said.

Two houses were also destroyed and 15 others were damaged in Hinobaan town,

The heavy rains over Negros Occidental were triggered by Topical Depression Pepeng's sucking of the southwest monsoon, weather forecaster Judel Cariñ of the Provincial Disaster Management Team said.

Garcia said that in Valladolid , barangays flooded were Ayungon, Alijis, Mabini and Central Tabao affecting 565 families with 2,825 dependents.

In Ilog, floods hit barangays Calubang, Delicioso, Andulawan, Crossing Calubang, Dancalan, Vista Alegre, Manalad and 1 affecting 1,045 families or 5,225 individuals, and in Isabela, affected were barangays 5 and Guintubdan affecting 143 families or 413 individuals, she added.

In Hinobaan, a report yesterday morning said four families with 18 dependents in Barangay Culipapa were affected by flooding, but the figure reportedly went up later in the afternoon when two houses were destroyed and 15 damaged, Garcia said.

Flooded in Sipalay were barangays Cartagena, Mambaroto, Nauhang, Gil Montilla, 3 and 5 affecting 648 families with 3,240 dependents, Garcia also said.*CPG
