Twenty finalists in two categories of the 5 th MassKara Healthy Baby and Kid Contest were chosen at the Gaisano City Supermall in Bacolod City , Saturday, a press release from organizers said.

Ten finalists were selected out of 60 participants in Category A, and 10 finalists out of 32 babies and kids in Category B.

Category A winners are Rainz Clark Chua, Angela Nicole Giban, Ariana Edang, Meitozsylla Victoria Omega, Ritz Kennedy Lucero, Yviam Drew Coruña, Brent Yoav Chan, Frian Tallo Jr., Daniel Raffaelo Porras, and Caryl Diarota. Making it in Category B are Rianne Chloe Syguan, Cris Rio Nicole Tiangson, Andi Thaniel Briones, Reiben Jay Denaga, John Nell Almenario, Ranz Anndrea Destacamento, Kyrene Elise Garrovillo, Kaitlyn Antonette Salibio, Isabel Marie Rubiato, and Blessed Janely Dalumpines, the press release said.

Judges were pediatricians Lucia Iledan, Claredette Guanzon, Maricar Alejano, Salve Jesena, and overall chairman and executive producer Severo Lacson, the press release said.

Special guest at the event was Elsa Leonardia, with former Bacolod Rep. John Orola, and Luz Dato Lacson.

Leonardia and Orola stressed the significance of the contest to the molding of children, and called it one of the happiest and most adorable events during the MassKara Festival, the press release said.

Also present were Girlie Belzunce and Ivy Visitacion of the Bacolod MassKara Foundation, and members of the Bacolod Cultural Foundation.

A total of 100 healthy babies were given gift packs. The 20 finalists will be judged at the finals on Friday, 3 p.m., at the Gaisano City Mall. Briefing will be at 3 p.m. Thursday.

P15,000 will be given to the winners in both categories by presentor Westmont Pharmaceuticals Inc., and birthday bash from Jollibee Bacolod.

Also supporting the contest are the various hospitals in the city, and the Cebu Institute of Medicine Alumni Association headed by Dr. Severo Lacson. Stage producer is Viol Montelibano, the press release added.*

29 Bacolod artists hold exhibit

Twenty-nine members of the Art Association of Bacolod-Negros are holding an art exhibit at the second level of Robinson's Place-Bacolod, which opened Saturday and will run until Oct. 29, a press release from organizers said.

The group art show titled “Kasadya” opened with Inday Pefianco as guest of honor.
