| Swindlers victimize
retired employee Suspected “budol-budol” thieves struck again in Bacolod City , this time, victimizing a retired employee, case investigator Police Officer 3 Celito Dullan said yesterday.
Salvacion Dolosa, 66, of Villa Angela Subdivision, Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod told the police that she was selecting clothes at about 11 a.m. Wednesday at an “ukay-ukay” store at Rizal-Gatuslao streets, when an unidentified woman approached and pretended to know her.
Dolosa added that the woman told her that she was carrying a kiddie school bag allegedly containing P1,000,000, in cash that will be used to buy merchandise for the business she is putting up in Bacolod .
The suspect asked her to withdraw $3,000 (Php136,000) from her bank, Dolosa said.
The suspect brought her to Rizal Street in front of San Sebastian Cathedral, where they met the woman companion of the first suspect and together they went to SM City mall, where they met a couple, the victim further said.
Dullan said one of the suspects told Dolosa to put her cash and necklace in the bag allegedly containing the P1,000,000 and left her. One of the suspects also told her to deposit the money in her bank for a while, he added.
When Dolosa went to a bank in Silay City , Negros Occidental, supposedly to deposit the money the suspect had left her, she discovered that the bag contained bundles of papers, the police said.
The Rogue's Gallery of Station 1 was shown to the victim but she failed to identify the suspects, Dullan told the DAILY STAR.

Bizman held up
A businessman was held up by three men at about 8:30 p.m. in Brgy. Sum-ag, Bacolod City , Wednesday.
Station 9 chief, Insp. Ramon Villanueva, yesterday identified the victim as Nathaniel Ang, 26, of San Juan Street , Sum-ag, and owner of 168 Merchandise in the barangay.
Investigation showed that Ang was about to board his car in front of the KAL Marketing near his establishment, when three men approached and held him up.
Ang said the suspects grabbed his handbag containing his two Metrobank passbooks and P26,000 in cash. One of the suspects shot him with a .38 caliber revolver when he fought back, but the gun malfunctioned, he added.
He said the suspects escaped by climbing the wall of the nearby Fiesta Homes Subdivision, taking his handbag.
Minutes later, Station 9 policemen led by Police Officer 3 Joel Manojo who arrived in the area, recovered a cap, a pair of sandals, a piece of cloth and a Smith and Wesson .38 caliber revolver with two live ammunition.
The suspects may not be resident of Sum-ag, because, according to the victim, this was the first time he saw them in the area.

Police stations
8,5 get ORSITE honors Bacolod City Police Office Station 8 was adjudged as the most presentable police station, while Police Station 5 was named the most organized, orderly and with the most presentable office, during the recent Philippine National Police Annual General Inspection Operational Readiness Security Inspection Test and Evaluation.
Stations 8 and 5, under Senior Insp. Palcido Gentoleo and Insp. Renato Ofamen, respectively, also got the perfect attendance, with stations 1, 2, 3, 4, and 9, a BCPO press release said.
Senior Supt. Joven Balmeo, head of the inspection team, reminded the policemen to always make their stations neat and clean everyday, and not only during the annual inspection. The structure of the police station itself is the show window of the PNP to the public, he stressed.
Station 9, led by Insp. Renato Ofamen, meanwhile, garnered a perfect score in the Close Quarter Battle.
City Police officer-in-charge, Senior Supt. Celestino Guara Jr. lauded the efforts of the 10 police stations, the press release added.*
