The body of a drowning victim was retrieved three hours after she and her companion were swept away by a flashflood at a river in Brgy. Montilla, Moises Padilla, on Tuesday, police said.
Senior Insp. Gil Flores, Moises Padilla police chief, yesterday said the victim, identified as Melecia Pabor, 59, was riding a horse with a 17-year-old companion as they were crossing an overflow, when a strong current carried them away.
Her body was later recovered by the barangay residents about five kilometers from the overflow.
Flores said her companion, whose identity was not available yesterday, survived.
A team of Moises Padilla policemen led by SPO1 Anthony Saing assisted the Montilla residents in the retrieval of Pabor's body.
In Brgy. Culipapa, Hinobaan, a barangay tanod allegedly involved in the shooting of Arnie Acot, surrendered to the town police Monday.
Senior Insp. Arnold Mesias, Hinobaan police chief, said barangay tanod Ronie Granzo was forced to shoot Acot, who was then holding a knife.
Granzo also endorsed a 12-gauge shotgun with two live ammunition and spent shell to the Hinobaan Police Station.
Policemen also arrested Roberto Casanayan, 54, and Merlyn Sevilla, 45, in Bago City , for the crime of concubinage.
Supt. Melchor Coronel, Bago police chief, said Judge Herminigildo Octaviano who issued the arrest warrant recommended P6,000 as bail for each of the accused persons.*GPB
