Cancer patients get help

The Media Advocates for Reproductive Health and Empowerment yesterday turned over P233,200 to the Kadughan Foundation from proceeds of the recently conducted photo and art exhibit at the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City .

The work of arts and photos were donated for free by national and local artists and journalists like Nunelucio Alvarado, Alpha Trinidad-Shanahan and Claro Cortez.

The funds turned over by MAhRE president Mate Espina to Dr. Julian Raca and Dr. Adhara Fernandez at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital will help indigent breast cancer patients in their chemotherapy and surgery.

A local study shows that there are more than 1,000 people in Negros Occidental diagnosed with cancer annually. Negros Occidental has also had cases of men diagnosed with breast cancer.*
