WNU gains final berth
in UniGames football

West Negros University XI blanked University of the Philippines , 3-0, to secure the first final seat in men's football of the 14 th National University Games yesterday at the Central Philippine University football pitch.

The Wesnecans, last year's runner-up, will face the winner in the semifinals match between University of St. La Salle and St. Benilde.

In women's football, defending champion De La Salle booked the first final seat with a 4-2 penalty shootout win over UP.

Sanyo takes top spot in
Suppliers bowlfest

Sanyo Team gained the upper hand in men's division with Tiger Eye doing the same in the women's bracket of the ongoing Suppliers Open Trio Invitational Bowling Tournament at the New Top's Millennium Plaza Alley in Bacolod City .

The Sanyo pinbusters managed by Joel Alilain drew the record breaking 1,079 pinfalls to overtake Bago City Bowlers Association anchored by Joe Ermeo, who fell to third after clipping only 959 balls in the third round.

Sharp I piloted by Rey “Spitfire” Bala-an maintained its second place with 3,020.

RP women pugs
compete in Hanoi

Even without any international exposure for the team this year, the RP women's boxing team hopes to deliver an impressive performance in the 3rd Asian Indoor Games which opened yesterday at the 40,000-seater My Dinh National Stadium.

For the first time, women's boxing is included in the AIG and Philippines will be fielding a tried and tested lady boxers as the lean delegation hopes to maintain string of gold medal production in the past two staging.

The country has so far won a total of two gold, two silver and five bronze medals during the 1st AIG held in Bangkok Thailand in 2005 and in Macau , China in 2007.
