Two earthquakes with the epicenter located east of Bago City hit some parts of Negros Occidental and Iloilo at 7:45 and 7:47 p.m. yesterday, Ben Tanatan, science and research analyst of the P hilippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, said.

He said the first quake at 7:45 p.m. was recorded at intensity two in La Carlota City and intensity one in La Castellana.

The second tremor at 7:47 was recorded at intensity three in Iloilo , Bacolod City , Bago City , Valladolid and La Carlota City, and intensity two in La Castellana, Hinigaran and Pontevedra in Negros Occidental and Canlaon City in Negros Oriental, he added.

The origin of the quake was tectonic and its location was 10.49 degrees north, 122.85 degrees east, six kilometers south, 16 degrees east of Bago City, with a depth of 26 kilometers or shallow and at magnitude 4.5 on the Richter scale, he added.*CPG
