Cops nab farmer-fugitive
facing rape, battery raps

BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

A man facing charges of multiple incest-rape and wife-battery was arrested by the police after Philippine Army troops and a member of the Revolutionary Proletariat Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade spotted him in the hinterlands of Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental, Saturday.

Guadrato Dumael, 37, married of Sitio Cang-askig, Barangay Mansangaban in Bais City, Negros Oriental, was arrested by virtue of warrants of arrest issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 45 Judge Candelario B. Gonzales of Bais City.

Army troops led by Cpl. Diony Mendoza of the 79th IB and the RPA-ABB member, whose name was withheld, apprehended Dumael in Sitio Avocado, Barangay Talalak in Sta. Catalina, where he was said to have been in hiding for months now, Sta. Catalina police chief, Insp. Rolando Asidoy, said.

Dumael is facing multiple incest-rape charges for allegedly molesting his 11-year old daughter early this year, Bais City police chief, Insp. El Moso, said.

A separate complaint for violation of RA 9262 or the Violence Against Women and Children law for allegedly beating his wife, was also lodged against him, Moso added.

The police said a relative of Dumael in Sitio Avocado had turned him in to authorities.

Dumael was turned over to the Sta. Catalina police station for custody and was later picked up by Moso and his men.

No bail was recommended for Dumael’s temporary liberty, the police said.*JFP
