Dauin mayor:
We’re taxing resort owners

BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

Mayor Rodrigo Alanano said 14 foreigners own resorts and beaches in Dauin, but some of them use dummies as incorporators.

Most, if not all, of the foreshore areas in Dauin are now in the hands of foreigners who are engaged in the business of resorts and dive shops.

Alanano said he will take efforts to collect taxes from them.

He also said they have reason to believe some of these resorts and dive shops are not paying the right taxes due the government.

ON STOLEN SCRAP MATERIALS
Mabinay SP seeks
Ombudsman probe

BY MARICAR ARANAS

The Sanguniang Bayan of Mabinay has sought an inquiry on the P200,000 scrap materials that were stolen from the bodega of the Municipal Engineers Office in Mabinay, Negros Oriental.

In a resolution, the SB members agreed to ask the Office of the Ombudsman Visayas to conduct an investigation on the controversy since it involves the name of the municipal mayor and key officials of the town and they do not have technical expertise to conduct the investigation themselves.

Municipal Mayor Inozario Baldoza vehemently denied the allegations linking his name to the alleged selling of scrap materials from the MEO.
