| The auditorium overflowed, with the excited alumni of La Consolacion College-Bacolod who gathered yesterday for the annual homecoming, this time with High School Class 1984, the silver jubilarians, as main sponsor, as has been practiced in recent years.
The hall rang with cries of delight, especially from those who now live abroad and had not been present in recent reunions. Sometimes the cries were of surprise upon recognizing some former classmates who seem to have, well, grown a bit sideways, sometimes they were of reproach at not having gotten in touch for so long.
Naturally, the homecoming day yesterday started with Holy Mass officiated by Bishop Gerry Alminaza and Fr. Leon Orbista and the ceremony set the tone for the celebration.
In a change from the usual order or having the entire group have lunch at the college, this time the classes marking milestones got together in different venues but came back later for the afternoon program where they showcased the new talents they have acquired over the years.
For some, the homecoming started last week yet with the arrival of those from other places here and abroad, and will even continue this week with more outings, partyings and remember-when sessions.
This year’s event will again end with the traditional vows of “Till we meet again!”
