GSIS explains
pension delay

BY LISA GATAC

The cleansing of records of the pensioners in all Government Services Insurance System branches nationwide caused the delay of their September pension, Glorietta Dublas, Bacolod GSIS manager said yesterday.

This is because of the move to the new Claims Pension Administration System after they encountered problems with the previous IBM System that they are using, Dublas said.

Bacolod GSIS pensioners have complained about the delay in their pensions.

Dublas said they received an order from the GSIS home office to conduct the cleansing on Sept. 2 to Sept. 5. She said GSIS Bacolod had submitted the pensions on time, but the other GSIS branches nationwide encountered problems while cleansing the records.

There are 180,000 pensioners nationwide and all the records will be cleansed within three days as mandated by the GSIS home office, which is more likely to meet problems while cleansing the records, she said.

“We cannot blame the pensioners if they think that GSIS has no money and the cleansing issue is only a strategy,” she also said. Instead, the purpose of cleansing is to clear up their loan history and payments so that they will receive appropriate pension, she added.

Due to the cleansing, the September pension is delayed and the home office created a text blast that states. “Due to cleansing of your records, your pension for this month will be credited on or before Sept. 23.”

Dublas told the DAILY STAR that they assure the people that delay of pension is only in this month. She also assured that withdrawal of pension will resume on the 8th of next month.*LTG
