Fire damages house
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Unattended embers developed into a fire that damaged a residence in Bacolod City at about 11 a.m. yesterday, reports from the city’s Bureau of Fire Protection yesterday showed.

Senior Fire Officer 1 Harry Fernandez said they received the call that the residence of Antonio Alvia at Raymond Street in Purok Dasok, Brgy. Singcang-Airport, was ablaze at about 11:45 a.m. yesterday.

Fernandez said two fire trucks from the BFP with the Chamber Volunteer Fire Brigade were dispatched to the area, but the fire had already been putt out by the residents when they arrived.

The fire originated at the kitchen of the house, Fernandez said.

He said one of Alvia’s children who boiled bananas earlier yesterday, gathered the live coals in an empty can and put it on a wooden platform, and this eventually caused the fire.

Damage was placed at P3,000, he said.*APN
