DOT to join travel expo in Vietnam

The Department of Tourism is inviting hotels, resorts, tour operators, transport services and other stakeholders in the Philippine travel industry to participate in the International Travel Expo on October 1 to 3, at the Phu To Exhibition Center, Ho Chi Minh City , a DOT press release said.

The ITE Vietnam that is on its 5th year, is considered as one of the foremost tourism travel fairs in Asia, with more than 150 international buyer and corporate travel managers.

Under the theme, “Gap Go in Another World,” or “to meet in another world,” the fair will introduce the 3CODe concept, or “Three Countries, One Destination,” referring to countries of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam that are packaged as one exciting destination, in a multi-agenda campaign to promote the three countries, highlighting the World Heritage Sites present there, the press release said.

Tourism Secretary Ace Durano said in the press release that the ITE is a venue where stakeholders can discuss investment opportunities, in exhaustive business-to-business sessions with three nations closer to home.

Latest trends in the travel industry and how other countries strategize in capturing the Asian market also form part of the ITE Vietnam's agenda, Durano said, adding that the DOT will highlight its adventure tourism and shopping campaign in the fair.

Director Rica Bueno, DOT Team Asia-Pacific head, said several partners have already confirmed participation and the agency looks forward to more intensive business-to-business sessions with their counterparts in the fair.

The partners of the agency include Shroff Travel, Manila Hotel, Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific Air.

Travel and leisure trade enterprises interested in participating can call 524-24-23 or 523-84-11 locals 261 and 263 for details, the DOT press release further said.*
