The PNP Regional Director, Chief Supt. Lani-o Nerez, noted the need for additional transportation and a decent police station during his recent visit to police stations in Negros Oriental.
Nerez said that, based on his observation, several police stations in Negros Oriental are using municipal government buildings, although some of the police stations are well taken care by the local government.
He is urging the police chief to coordinate with the local chief executive for a donation of land to be used for the construction of a police station.
The PNP can allocate some funds for the construction of a new PNP station provided a lot is donated to the PNP. It is one of the requirements of the PNP National command before the funds can be released, he said.
Other police stations are now ready with the land and they are waiting for the approval of the funds for the building. He said the COP and the Provincial Director can help follow up the fast release of the funds.
He also urged the COP to take some effort at beautification and cleanliness of the police station so that it will be more pleasing to the community.
He also promised to give additional firearms for Negros Oriental once the supplies arrive from the national office.*MA
