clash at WNU tomorrow

It is the same cast of protagonists that contested the top two finals seats last year, but this year's semifinal showdown in NOPSSCEA men's basketball, between defending titlist West Negros University Mustangs and University of St. La Salle and Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod Eagles against UNO-Recoletos Rams, will be character-defining for all teams involved.

The Mustangs will try to extend their 10-year rule in the annual league among private schools when they face a newly-overhauled Stingers at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow following the equally highly-charged 3:30 p.m. battle between the Eagles and the Rams.

Both semis games will be played at the LN Agustin Memorial Sports Center at the WNU.

Pag-IBIG Fund wins
Gov's Cup cagefest

Pag-IBIG Fund prevailed over the Office of the Provincial Agriculturists, 81-68, in Game Three of their best-of-three series to complete its come-from-behind win in the Governor's Cup Basketball Tournament at the at the Negros Occ. Multi-purpose Activity Center.

Karl Bryan Alunan led the Funders' surge by exploding with 10 points in the second canto after a scoreless opening quarter while Johann Ledesma backed him up with 16 points in the final tally.

OPA started strong in the first quarter, outscoring Pag-IBIG, 19-13, but their gunners suddenly went cold in the second quarter as the Funder outscored them, 10-21, to register a five-point lead at halftime.

Hurricane, Bago
pace bowling tilt

Hurricane ASSFBI and Bago City Bowlers Association took the first and second positions in the Active Solid Strikers Fellowship Bowlers Inc. hosted Open Trio Bowling Tournament at the New Top's Millennium Plaza Alley in Bacolod City.

Hurricane composed of Nerio Regollo, Nonoy Ayagan, Cesar Sumaylo and Orly Guiljon still top the 10-team cast with a total score of 3,111 pinfalls, while Bago chipped in 3,052.

Sharp and Triple-C ASSFBI were third and fourth with 3,047 and 3,039.
