| City to hold sports, Bacolod City under Mayor Evelio Leonardia will hold a “Sports and Cultural Show” Sept. 28 to Oct. 2 at the New Government Center , in celebration of the Philippine Civil Service Anniversary, through the Human Resource Management Services, a City Hall press release said. HRMS officer Erman Aguirre said the activities will showcase talents and instill camaraderie and bonding among city government employees. There will be mini-sports and a cultural program that will include a “Pre-Halloween Presentation” on September 30, the press release said. There will be a Search for “Miss Healthy 2009”, whose participants have to be endorsed by the department heads, on October 2. The theme of the 109th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary is “Honoring our Heroes in Republic Service Responsive, Ethical Public Servants with Vision, Impact, Commitment and Excellence,” the press release added.* |
| Encouraging tourism integration in classes was the focus at the teachers and students tourism forum recently that was part of Escalante's tourism month celebration 2009. Almost 80 participants from private and public schools convened at Mount Carmel College MS Building for the forum with the theme “Tourism Celebrating Diversity,” a press release from Escalante said. Severino Pacete, one of the speakers, emphasized the role of education in tourism, while Tanya Lopez talked on the importance of arts, culture, and heritage in tourism in connection to classroom incorporation, and Joe Ricalex Alingasa Jr. discussed enhancing communication and platform skills. The Supreme Student Government of Mount Carmel College co-sponsored this event.*
